An introduction for UK dental practices
One place to find and compare dentists in the UK
NHS and private, across all four nations. Your practice already has a page here. This page tells you what Dentist Locator is, why we built it, the benefits for your practice, and how we built your free page.
What is Dentist Locator?
A directory of UK dental practices, NHS and private, in one place. Three parts to it.
Dental practices
NHS and private practices across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, each with its own page.
Fields of patient info per page
Including opening hours, treatments, the team, NHS availability, photos, prices where a practice publishes them, and an online booking link.
Treatments to filter by
Patients can also narrow by whether a practice takes NHS patients, opens on a Saturday, or has step-free access. Then they compare what is left, side by side.
Why did we build it?
Looking for a dentist meant checking several places. Patients find NHS practices on the NHS's Find a Dentist website. They search Google Maps. The big dental chains list their own practices, and private practices each have their own website.
What didn't exist was one well-designed directory that brings NHS and private together, holds this much information on every practice, and gives practices the ability to manage their own listing. So we built it.
The benefits for your practice
More patients finding you
Two results with your name on them instead of one. Your own website keeps every visit it was already getting, and the second result brings you more on top.
A patient searching Google for “a dentist near me” sees Google Maps, the NHS's Find a Dentist site, the big chains and practices' own websites. Your practice's page on dentistlocator.co.uk appears in those same results.
It takes nothing away from your own website. Your site holds the position it always held, and patients click the first few results whoever they belong to. You simply own one more of them.
Showing up in AI answers
When a patient asks ChatGPT, Gemini or Google's AI Overviews for a dentist, the practices that get named are the ones those tools keep finding across trusted websites and every one of them says the same thing. A page on dentistlocator.co.uk puts your practice in one more of those places. And when you take control of the listing, every detail matches your own website exactly, which makes it more likely that yours is the practice it cites.
Further benefits with a paid plan
Correcting mistakes in existing content is free. Adding new content needs a plan.
Your free page carries what we could source and verify. A plan opens all 20 fields for you to edit: photos, video, your own description, your full team, prices next to your treatments, social media links, an online booking link. Your changes publish the moment you save. Do it Yourself is £29/month; on We Do it For You (£59/month) you send us the changes and we make them for you.

How did we build your page?
From three sources, in this order.
- Public regulators The official regulator for each nation: the Care Quality Commission in England, Healthcare Inspectorate Wales and the RQIA in Northern Ireland, and in Scotland Public Health Scotland's list of NHS dental practices. This is where your practice, its address and its registration come from.
- Your own website We used AI to read the details you've published yourself: contact details, opening hours, treatments. If we've got something wrong, correcting it is free: report a correction and we fix it within two weeks.
- NHS acceptance data The NHS Business Services Authority publishes dental activity data every month. We pull each release as it comes out, use it to show whether a practice offers NHS care and is taking on new NHS patients, and stamp every page with the date it was last checked.
We went to a lot of effort to check and validate everything we could source. Where we couldn't match information to your practice as accurately as we wanted, we didn't publish it. A blank on your page means we couldn't verify it, never that it is being held back. And anything we have published that's wrong, we correct free, within two weeks. With a managed listing you can change it yourself, and it goes live straight away.
Star ratings come from patients on public review platforms. We don't write, invite, pay for or edit reviews, and no plan can change them.
