On the 1st August 2025, I went to a&e with suspected TIA / hemiplegic migraine as a result from depression and stress. With this, I was introduced, by the stroke nurse, to two members of the mental health team at Hereford hospital. Due to being able to verbalise my issues of the stresses, depression and time lines, that I suspected was the reason for my then medical issue, I was told that if I was to go back with the same symptoms for the same thing - I would likely end up in a secure unit.... I'm surprised that the reviews so far are so negative as we had a great experience from the Older Adult Mental Health Hospital at Home service so maybe things have improved considerably. The team's early interventions, support and empathetic staff made a huge difference to my friend who was suffering from a very severe clinical depression. Due to their intervention we avoided my friend being hospitalised. He's now recovering well and hopes to go back to work in a month's time. Thank you so much to the whole team.

This was an extremely shocking and distressing time in my life and I was struggling with anxiety and depression.
