Bupa Dental Care Withington

Just been to the dentist for a very traumatic treatment (for me). I'm an extremely nervous patient. I saw my usual dentist, Sonia Bansal, and, as usual, she was fantastic! She always has the time for me, there's no rush and she gently and calmly talks me through the panic. The procedure was done efficiently and with minimum pain. 10/10 every time. Also, a mention for the nurse (sorry, I didn't catch your name), who probably needs a&e treatment on her hand, after me crushing it throughout the treatment. She was excellent too. This has been my NHS dentist for many years. Today I saw Yichi for a replacement filling. This was my second visit to him for this as my fillings are very old and mostly amalgam. He is so careful and sensitive to needs. I haven’t needed an anaesthetic either time and felt nothing. He works seamlessly with his assistant who is able to anticipate what is needed. Overall, an excellent experience. Highly recommended.

I'm done with this practice. I've had too many years of it being difficult to get through to anyone on the phone. Changing of dentists. High private treatment prices. Lack of clear pricing structures anywhere in reception/on demand. Demands for deposits before the appointment out of the blue. Poorly trained front-of-house staff who don't know what they are doing. Etc. I'd avoid this practice.

If I were just reviewing the dentists it’d be 5 stars, Dr Eckow is very kind and an excellent dentist. Reception are very disorganised - every time I go I have some kind of problem. The worst is I had a treatment in 2024, they had my Bupa cover details (I’ve been using this practice for some years and never a problem taking off my insurance before) but insisted I paid up front. They then took the payment from my Bupa account twice more for which I have record of in my Bupa account, but they say they have no record of this happening. I keep being told the head of admin will get in touch but …
