Kelling Hospital

My step father was a patient here. The staff didn’t know him by name, despite him being a patient for months “the man in bed…” They never contacted me to update me. He was in a side room on his own, and whilst this may be nice for many, it’s not nice for a lonely depressed Man. My father ended up watching tv all day and night, his only friend, something he NEVER did before. He was emaciated. The staff demonstrated zero professional curiosity. They saw my dad as a tick box exercise, completing assessments on him just to say they did that but had no real care or kindness. I raised my concerns…

In my time ive been to many hospitals, i was here while mum needed hospice, and the care mum have had have been outstanding.All the staff are kind caring and so very understanding .i have been staying with mum as i dont drive and husband worked from home so he could care and keep a routine for our children.All the staff from cleaners porters kitchen staff all the nurses have been 5star.making myself and mum feel so warm and the family room that is funded by the kelling trust is clean comftable and inviting.i will definitely be donating very soon, so other families will benefit. Have to say with high expectations of being told my dad was being sent their for rehabilitation, he got nothing, communication was non existent from staff, he spent a few weeks their and wasn't encouraged to do anything and clearly that was the reason he was their he has been sent home and his granddaughter has organised help for him at home The management at kelling need to look at what exactly is going on and work on the floor more. Totally disappointed by them.

A close relative stayed at Kelling for several days of palliative care. The staff were compationate, caring and wonderful during very difficult family circumstances. Thank you.
