Dencall - University Hospital of North Durham

Went to urgent care in the middle of the night for a very rare condition. I was bracing mentally for a bad experience but I was pleasantly surprised. The staff took me seriously and I was actually seen much earlier than I thought, I was in and out of there in about an hour and a half. They gave me the medication I needed quickly and the doctor was kind and respectful. I’m grateful for their help.

I would highly recommend this hospital. I had both of my children here, in April 2023 and April 2024. I found that the care was amazing, both babies were c sections and I felt at ease and like things were explained well to me. Lidija the midwife was fantastic. All the doctors, nurses, midwives etc work really hard to provide the best care. If you’re considering giving birth here, do it. If I have anymore children, they will definitely be born here.

Accessibility for wheelchairs is ridiculous at urgent care, hallways full of beds making it almost impossible to move around, disabled toilet isn't big enough to turn your wheelchair around in, would've been stuck in the toilet if I wasn't an ambulatory wheelchair user as I had to physically get up to get myself and my chair out of the disabled toilet hurting my shoulder. Completely ignored at the desk because the staff are just chatting to eachother. People asleep on the floor in the hallways, drunk men outside harassing women, reception staff treating a poor homeless girl like garbage whe…

Just spent 9hrs at A & E here, came in through 111 and then an ambulance. I have to say even due to the fact that they were packed to the rafters , all staff we encountered deserve a massive thanks. After using this service with both elderly parents in the past , last night has given me faith again in the NHS, thanks for the care understanding , respect and service delivered by all, especially the night shift of 26/11/25 , massive respect 🙏
